Steam, Bronze, and Fire
The Elemental Chaos
A primordial plane of swirling elements and energy. It is a dangerous place, constantly changing, and full immense and overwhelming forces of nature. Floating islands cascade torrential water falls above swirling vortexes of magma. Cracks of lightning scorch stone at random intervals. Chunks of earth the size of cities collide at speeds comparable to flying cannons, and the resulting debris shatters across the landscape.
This plane does not overlap The Material Plane like The Still-Myst or The Shadow-Weave. It is only accessible through stable portals that reach into the depths of the material plane. These portals are used mostly to find relatively stable sources of energy, which are hard to find in such a chaotic landscape. Relatively stable sources of energy are places such as pools of lava or sable rivers and are tapped into regularly. These energy sources are used to power stable places such as factories and forges on the material plane. Only talented wizards know how to make stable portals such as these that can withstand the extreme forces.
